Photocontest

Kazakhstan’s “Mining and Metals Industry” Magazine and the Organising Committee of the “MINEX Central Asia 2012″ Mining & Mineral Exploration Forum are pleased to announce the first photo competition of the amateur photographers “Prospector. Miner. Metallurgist”.

The competition organisers invite amateur photographers employed at the Exploration, Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises in Kazakhstan to submit their works for jury consideration between 31 January to 30 March.

The competition aims to reflect the modern image of mining professional and professionals working in Kazakhstan. The works of the winners will be broadcasted at the MINEX forum Gala Dinner on 18 April in Astana and published in the “Mining and Metals Industry” Magazine and the forum’s website.

Please use internet file sharing services e.g. www.dropbox.com for sending large size photos (above 3 Mb) and send links of shared files to the Editors at the “Mining and Metallurgical” Magazine to: izdat@agmp.kz

Requirements

One photographer can submit up to 5 works.

Total number of works accepted for the competition from all authors – 1000

Please submit short (50 word) description for each photo.
E.g. “Mining engineer ___ at ____ Mine in ____ Spring 2012”

Photos should comply with the following technical requirements:

Format: JPG
Size: from 2448х1632 to 4896×3264 px.

Regretfully, we cannot accept:

  • Photos with date or copyright or any other marks.
  • Duplicate photos (same image with variations technical e.g. black and white and full color) Computer generated or modified photos and collages

Evaluation criteria: the jury is evaluating the quality (light, focus, balance, composition), theme (Mining and Metals Profession and Professionals) and originality of the photos. The jury is composed of the mining experts and professional photographers.
